  1. We took the flight MU2421 from Shanghai to Kunming on dec 5, 20155. Two times in the first leg and one time in the second leg, there was a strong tobacco smoke in the plane. As I could see nobody smoking in the cabin, i suspect the pilots were just smoking in the cockpit. This plane smelled like a ashtray.

  2. Flight MU 502 from HK to Shanghai (June 1,2015) was delayed + 3 hours. We sat on the Tarmac with very limited information on the status of the flight. Why board the flight if you knew it was goon to be delayed. I missed my connection because of it. If we had not board I might have been able to make alternate travel arrangements. This is not acceptable and I can not believe the sky team partners would find this acceptable.

  3. I just want to file a complaint against agent Wang sine 962013 from Shanghai for being so RUDE over the phone. He always interrupts while i am giving the information.Agent is not friendly and doesnt know what he’s doing.

I hope you will read my complaint because this agent will be a threat to your company. You should train this agent for proper customer handling and ethics in assisting your customers.

  4. I have flown only domestic, but I have absolute confidence that all the reviews on about international flight experiences are accurate and I would not book this airline for my twice yearly trips from Hong Kong to the States. I’ve done enough international flying to know that there are problems about 50% of the time, and you absolutely need good customer service to deal with them.

I’ve learned from experience to avoid calling the LAX office of ANY airline for assistance. In China Eastern’s case, calling Vancouver is the hot tip.

My trip from Xi’an to Shenzhen yesterday (7.23.13), involved an intermediate stop. Both flights departed and arrived on time, and my luggage arrived in Shenzhen when I did. I was lucky in that my bag was the second one to appear on the carousel so I was out of the airport in record time.

The flight attendants were as courteous as I’ve ever experienced on any other airline, and all three spoke passable English (good, since my Mandarin is not passable at all).

What entertainment? Since I don’t travel without my ipad, I really didn’t miss any movies or TV shows. It you want in-flight entertainment, Singapore Airlines has good equipment.

The breakfast snack was ok – just ok. The coffee was terrible.

I was not impressed that when we arrived in Shenzhen, we had to park on the tarmac and had to take a bus to the terminal – because in all of the gates I could see, only one was occupied. Fortunately, it wasn’t raining. Does China Eastern only lease gates for departures, and not for arrivals?

All in all, compared to the other Chinese airlines that I’ve flown on domestic Chinese routes, my experience with China Eastern yesterday was as good as any of the others, and the price was lower. Still, with all of the negative reviews for international flights, I’ll stick with an American carrier.

  5. your company changed flight 282 from Ho Chi Minh to Shanghai, august 12, 2012, from 1.55 to 7.55, and did not check my connecting flight 5601 in Shanghai. It is impossible to reach you by phone or by e-mail to also make the change with my connecting flight from 5601 to 5609 since I will be flying on your wings in direction of Shanghai when flight 5601 will leave Shanghai.
Make us easy to contact you when we need, phone in HCMC, Shenyang, and international number…answers nobody there.Your are not at the height of an international company

  6. China Eastern has misplaced my bag. Took the flight from Singapore and I believe it is there that they did the mistake. No one contacts me, I dont know where my bag and there is no help from the customer team. I am sitting here in Australia not knowing what to do.

  7. The customer service of China Eastern is a decade behind any western airline. I bought a ticket and needed to change the date. Their only contact phone number for customer support cannot be reached from the USA. I tried dozens of times from several different phone numbers. I called their New York office and was told they can only change tickets that originate in New York. I called their office in Xiamen and was told they can only change tickets that originate in Xiamen. The flight originates in Shanghai but number cannot be reached from the USA. It has only five digits. I used their customer service email form on their website and it bounced back saying the address was not valid.

I would avoid flying on China Eastern if there is ANY chance that you need to make changes to the ticket.
