It is most unusual for me to make any complaint but the absurdity of the transaction that occurred this weekend almost makes me speechless.
A fantastic fear of flying course with just another person some years ago enables me to board a plane at all. I would choose not to fly but our offspring live in Canada and the US.
My son booked a flight for us in Sept and as usual I wished to look at the seating and make sure I could get two seats at the side in premium economy. However I could not get onto manage my booking I therefore tried to contact BA from France where we r on holiday. After 20 mins 2 secs the first attempt I hung up. Second time 18 mins 18 secs hung up third time I was through only to find that my son had not put a space between my second name and surname therefore not allowing me access.
The young lady said that she could change that and add a space at a cost of 10 p. I must admit I laughed as I could not believe BA would ask for a charge of 10 p! I offered to give double at the airport rather than give my card details however if I wanted to access manage my booking the 10 p had to be paid. I duely paid. I then asked if I could use my avois points to upgrade especially on the return journey for San Fran . Apparently not ( not sure how I can ever upgrade using my points) I then asked how much it would cost for me to upgrade . She could not answer and I spent another long wait whilst the young man found out if I could and the cost unfortunately too prohibitive for me. This phone call took 38 minutes!
However do an organisation as big as BA really have to charge 10 p !!!! In a way it would have been better to charge £5 . It would not have been so farcical to put in a space! I dread to think k what the phone calls are going to be hopefully another 10 p!

Alright in 2016, probably British Airways will be the first airline against whom I would have to report a not so very happy experience. The staff was rude, food was cold and they have this cavalier attitude towards fliers. I hope they begin an overhaul, right from the ground to the top.
